Robert Andrew Parker

"Title page - German Humor"

Etching

"The title 'German Humor' is meant to be ironic," said Parker.

This series of etchings emerged, in part, from Parker's horror over Nazi war crimes during WWII. "I'd get ideas from the radio and magazines," he said, and his childhood fears took the form of art.

Parker created the bulk of the German Humor series in a burst of creativity at an art studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the late 80s. "I did the monotypes and I reduced them to etchings," he said.
