About insects, Parkers says, “I’m interested in their odd shapes and functions. They have such odd configurations of legs, wings, feelers… I enjoy drawing them.”

“Insects of All Nations,” illustrated by Parker in 2014, contains about a dozen watercolors of exotic insects along with flags from countries like Chad and Brazil.

“Insects don’t have nations,” Parker said, and the book title is another example of his ironic sense of humor. “They don’t stop at borders.”
