Parker was commissioned by Time Magazine International to illustrate a portrait of Burmese activist Aung San Suu Kyi in 1994. The magazine provided him with 8 by 11 photos to work from. “She had an interesting face to paint,” he said.

Other portrait subjects include English writer Evelyn Waugh, British politician John Profumo and Parker’s granddaughter Claudia, painted when she was 20-years-old.
